Grant Workshops

All workshops will be held at the SCASA Building

SCASA is pleased to announce a series of grant workshops facilitated by Gail S. Widner, Ph.D., a professional grant writer with more than 20 years of experience in public education. She is one of seven nationally certified grants professional (GPC) in the state of South Carolina, a credential earned upon examination, and she sits on the national board of the Grants Professional Certification Institute. Since 2011, she has worked with numerous non-profits, universities, and school districts to secure grant funding for education. From 2002-2011, she served as the Manager of the Grants Program at the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), providing technical assistance to public school and district personnel and SCDE staff in applying for grant funding for academic initiatives and special programs. In her tenure there, Dr. Widner worked on more than 400 proposals (formula and competitive), which garnered more than $900 million to advance public K-12 and higher education in the state of South Carolina. Prior to her grant work, she served from 1996-2002 as Assistant Director and Director for Presidential Communications and Research for President John Palms at the University of South Carolina. She holds a doctorate in English (American literature) from the University of South Carolina Columbia; a master’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a bachelor’s degree in English and history from the College of Charleston. She has worked as a professional business editor, writer, consultant, and teacher for more than 25 years.
